While I’m sitting here goofing off, downloading music to my iTunes playlist for The Wire, I’m gonna pick up Linsey’s fun idea. Here are the first lines of the next 15 songs set on shuffle – from the aforementioned playlist. Can anyone (who’s not McNulty, Bunk or Snoop) guess these?

Movie Trivia 2 redux

LizzieLou | movies, year in review | Friday, March 14th, 2008

fuck “Deathproof”

Now that this movie is on cable and I’ve had the opportunity to watch it again (or again), I realize that the only thing, the only reason, that made it so memorable and exhilarating is the precarious and anxiety producing game of ’ship’s mast’ and the masterfully edited skills of Z. Bell. I have to agree with Matt that the dialogue sucks. The rest of the movie is a snore (with gore) and overacted.

Instead, I must replace it with “Stranger Than Fiction” which I’ve happened across and watched again. It’s funny, profound and much more memorable and lasting than “Deathproof.” Two thumbs up – both mine – and I move it over to the faves list. Amen.

Late to the Party

LizzieLou | nablopomo | Thursday, March 6th, 2008

I checked over at the NaBloPoMo page and discovered that the new thing is to BloPo with a new theme each Mo. This theme for this Mo is Lists – post a new list each day. I was bummed that I didn’t check in sooner because I sure do love to make me some lists.

Here is a list of things I have been considering writing posts about but haven’t because a) I’ve been busy, and b) maybe they’re kinda boring…

  • all the movies in the Criterion Collection that I’ve seen so far and what I thought about some of the lesser known ones
  • the relocating of Ashley’s (and Gomey’s) biological family and my decision not to tell her about her mother’s ‘passing’
  • the words that are printed on the Girl Scout cookies (“character”, “values”, “partially hydrogenated oil”) that the pushers pass around at work; Just Say No!
  • blogging about ideas for the blog
  • finally having an encounter with some of the new neighbors
  • my obsessive need to create iTunes playlists for television shows I like: Buffy, 6Ft.Under, hex, THEWIRE (And I say to all those who have contributed to these endeavors – miscellaneous online sources, Eelaine, and the Seattle Public Library – thank you.)
  • the desire to make a life-sized giant squid out of found objets and papier mache
  • a news report on those grody gross gnarly grotty foot pad things that revealed they are total scam

Perhaps I’ll get around to elaborating on some of these during the next NaBloPoMo.
